Mindful Movement
🌟Helping kids move through big feelings🌟
Join us for a fun, interactive 4-week group that combines mindfulness, movement, and emotional awareness to help kids manage stress, improve focus, and build confidence. Designed especially for rising 3rd–6th graders, this group teaches coping strategies through yoga, games, breathwork, and creative expression.
Participants will learn:
How to notice and name their emotions
Ways to calm their bodies and minds
Movement-based techniques to handle anxiety and frustration
How to stay present, grounded, and connected
Each session blends playful activities with meaningful reflection—perfect for kids who benefit from hands-on, whole-body learning.
📍 Location: ARISE Counseling Center and Training Instiute; Troy, MI
🗓 Dates: Thursdays (beginning 7/31/2025)

Social Skills Squad: Back-to-School Edition

For Rising 1st–4th Graders
Help your child head into the new school year with confidence, connection, and key friendship skills!
This 4-week summer group is designed to help younger kids strengthen their social toolbox in a fun, supportive environment. Through games, stories, role-plays, and movement-based activities, kids will practice:
Finding common interests
Starting and maintaining conversations
Reading social cues and body language
Respectful communication and conflict resolution
Led by child therapists who specialize in social-emotional learning, this group is a great refresher (or introduction!) before the transition back to school.

EXPRESSIONS: Art-Inspired Group for High Schoolers
Creativity meets connection in EXPRESSIONS, a fun and engaging art therapy group designed to help teens explore emotions, build self-esteem, and develop healthy coping skills. Through painting, drawing, and hands-on creative activities, teens will learn to express themselves in a safe and supportive environment while making new friends.

Pathways Forward: 3rd-5th Graders

Multi-family Groups

We have found the Multifamily Group Therapy Model to be one of the most efficient and effective therapeutic approaches to support overall wellness for the entire family!

During our Family CBT group, we invite all caregivers, individuals, and siblings grade 6th-12th to join in the healing process. Learning skills to cope with life’s challenges as a family is one of the most effective ways to ensure healing and family connection.
Over the course of 10 sessions, your family will learn about:
Anxiety and depression
The cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) model
Relaxation and mindfulness skills
Recognizing automatic negative thoughts (ANTs) and how to reframe them into more helpful thoughts
Behavioral activation: How getting active improves our mood
Exposure: How facing our fears helps us manage anxiety and overcome avoidance

The Strengthening Families Program (SFP) teaches–and has caregivers and youth practice–skills involved in bonding (creating warm, loving relationships), setting clear, firm boundaries, and monitoring their children’s emotional well-being and activities. Skill practice creates new prosocial habit patterns in the brain, which helps improve behavior, strengthens the parent-child relationship, and helps a child feel loved.
Over the course of 10 sessions, families will learn skills to:
Increase family bonding
Increase parental involvement
Increase positive parenting skills
Increase positive communication
Increase family organization
Decrease family conflict
Decrease youth depression
Decrease youth aggression
Increase youth cooperation
Increase number of prosocial friends and social competencies
