Therapist-in-Training
Zoe Smigles
With compassion and curiosity, I support children and families in making sense of life’s challenges—creating space for healing, confidence, and connection.
Hey, I’m Zoe (pronounced “Zoy” like toy).
Is your child feeling overwhelmed by big emotions or having a hard time adjusting to
changes at home or school? Maybe you’ve noticed them acting out, withdrawing, or
struggling to express what they’re going through. As a parent, it can be hard to know
how to navigate this, and that’s where I can provide support.
As a new mom, former accountant, and someone who’s walked through my own healing
journey, I bring compassion, curiosity, and deep empathy into the counseling space. My
passion for working with children and families grew out of my personal experiences with
therapy, both individual and group, which helped me find my voice and, eventually, my
calling.
I am especially passionate about helping kids and teens feel safe, seen, understood,
and supported. Whether your family is navigating anxiety, self-esteem challenges,
identity development, family transitions, or the effects of trauma, I strive to create a
space that’s warm, collaborative, and empowering. I also have a strong desire to
support children and teens growing up in households impacted by addiction, helping
them make sense of their experiences and find hope and healing in the midst of
uncertainty. My goal is always to meet kids where they are, help them build resilience,
and support parents in feeling more confident and connected.
My background & approach
I am currently pursuing my Master’s in Counseling at Northwestern University, bringing
with me a strong foundation in cultural humility, active listening, and openness to each
person’s lived experience. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from The
College of Saint Rose. I worked for several years as an accountant before making the
shift to counseling, a decision deeply rooted in my love for working with people and my
desire to make a difference.
I believe in showing up authentically, and I strive to create the kind of therapeutic
relationship where others feel they can do the same. If you’re looking for someone
who’s grounded and passionate about helping your child thrive, I’d be honored to walk
this journey with you.
