Counselor-in-Training

Kristi Torretti

I help children and teens build confidence, emotional resilience, and self-worth by combining developmental expertise with compassionate, trauma-informed care.

Hey, I’m Kristi.

Is your child or teen struggling with focus, overwhelming emotions, or navigating challenges at home, school, or in friendships? Are they dealing with the effects of trauma, facing difficulties with self-esteem, or finding it hard to regulate their emotions? If you're searching for ways to help them feel more understood, resilient, and empowered, I would love to partner with you in guiding them toward a healthier, more confident version of themselves.

I hold a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Oakland University and am currently pursuing a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health. My goal is to integrate my deep understanding of child development into my work with children and families, providing a holistic, developmentally informed approach to therapy.

I bring an upbeat, positive attitude to my work and am dedicated to supporting clients who are ready to make meaningful changes in their lives. If you know a child or teen who is struggling, I would love to work alongside you to help them develop the skills they need to thrive.

Let’s embark on this journey together—toward healing, growth, and a brighter future.

My background & approach

With over 20 years in the early childhood field and the past 10 years as an Early Childhood Specialist in the GSRP program, I have dedicated my career to helping educators navigate the emotional journey of supporting children with challenging behaviors and those who have experienced trauma. This background has equipped me with the expertise to support children and families facing similar struggles. I am especially passionate about working with adolescents and teens as they find their way, helping them build emotional regulation skills, develop healthy self-esteem, and recognize their own self-worth.

My therapeutic approach is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Person-Centered Therapy, ensuring that each client feels heard, valued, and empowered. I also integrate elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and other evidence-based approaches tailored to each individual’s unique needs. I strive to create a compassionate, safe space where individuals and families can heal, grow, and build resilience.
