Counselor-in-Training
Danielle Nicholson
I support teens and young adults navigating identity, relationships, and life’s next steps.
Hi, I’m Danielle.
Are you having difficulty navigating friendships or family relationships? Does anxiety, school, or career stress make it hard to relax? Are you exploring your gender or sexuality and looking for a supportive space to figure things out? Whatever brings you here, you don’t have to face it alone.
I support teens and young adults of all identities, with a special focus on LGBTQIA+, Asian American, and neurodivergent clients. My goal is to create an affirming and collaborative space where your experiences are validated, your strengths are recognized, and your voice matters. As a queer, biracial woman, I also know firsthand how it can feel to not always be fully seen or understood — and I bring that empathy into every session.
My Background & Approach
I’m currently completing my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Oakland University. My undergraduate education in creative writing, filmmaking, and theater allows me to integrate creativity into therapy when it’s helpful — whether through writing, drawing, or even exploring lessons from your favorite stories or characters. (And yes, I’ll always want to hear about what you’re reading or watching lately!)
At the same time, I’m practical: in our early sessions, we’ll identify your specific goals and create a plan with actionable steps to get you there, so you leave with strategies you can use in everyday life. We’ll make space to talk about the hard things, process the painful or confusing parts, and then build a plan to help you move forward feeling more confident and supported. My goal is to help you feel heard, understood, and equipped to handle whatever’s ahead.
If you’re ready for a space that’s truly yours, where you can be yourself and move forward at your own pace, I’d be honored to work with you.
